It’s almost here! Some tips for finishing the school year strong
With the final few weeks of school upon us, kids, parents and – yes – teachers are ready for summer. But there's still learning to be done. How can parents ensure that their children finish the year strong? Heather Roper, induction teacher specialist for the School District of Pickens County, and Sarah C. Watson, school counselor at Drayton Mills Elementary School, offered their tips to reach the finish line and celebrate your child's growth both in and out of the classroom.
Kids aren't the only ones experiencing burnout – teachers have put months of effort and time into the school year as well. Both Roper and Watson said they have dealt with burning the midnight oil and still feeling unprepared for state testing, deadlines and kids who are also ready for summer.
But the end of school is also a bittersweet time. The classroom dynamic will change, the kids will grow and everyone will say goodbye.
"Teachers work hard to build relationships with their students over the year, so it is bittersweet to see them move on to the next chapter," Roper said. "While we are excited for them, we know we will miss them."
