Storms are gone for now in South Florida. Are they coming back? What the forecast says
Last week's rain and flooding in South Florida left us craving sunnier days.
As we head into the first full week of June, the National Weather Service in Miami said that the first half of the week will be less wet. But rainier weather will return later this week, Thursday and into the weekend.
Here's what to know about the rain chance and the temperatures:
Monday afternoon: A 50% chance of some showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The weather service also predicts less than a tenth of an inch of rain, but that could go higher with possible thunderstorms. High of 85 in the day and a low of 78 at night.
Tuesday: A 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. and mostly sunny skies. At night, the chance of rain is 20%. High of 83 in the day and a low of 79 at night.
Wednesday: There's a 70% chance of rain during the day with a potential thunderstorm before 2 a.m. and a south wind between 5 and 10 mph. High of 86 in the day and a low of 77 at night.
Thursday: Partly sunny skies but a 70% chance of thunderstorms after 8 a.m. with wind gusts as high as 18 mph. Rain is likely to continue before 2 a.m. High of 85 in the day and a low of 77 at night.
Friday: There's a 70% chance of rain after 8 a.m. High of 86 in the day and a low of 77 at night.
Note: Last week, the weather service recorded that widespread rainfall reached 2 to 4 inches in some areas and more than 8 inches in others. The cause of the downpours were remnants of Tropical Storm Arlene, but it no longer affects South Florida. Also, the service also warns that coastal areas and further south are at higher risks of stronger weather with potential damaging winds, severe downpours and an isolated severe storm.
Monday afternoon: The forecast predicts a 50% chance of rain with partly sunny skies. Wind gusts as high as 18 mph with rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch, but higher amounts are possible. The high is near 86 during the day and 75 at night.
Tuesday: Partly sunny with a 50% chance of rain mostly after 11 a.m. Predicted rainfall amounts are less than a tenth of an inch but more could fall with possible thunderstorms. High of 85 in the day and a low of 75 at night.
Wednesday: Possible thunderstorm after 2 p.m. with a 70% chance of rain. In the morning, a light south wind of five to 10 miles per hour. High of 87 in the day and a low of 74 at night.
Thursday: The chance of rain is 70% with partly sunny skies. At night, possible thunderstorms after 2 a.m. High of 86 in the day and a low of 74 at night.
